About Me

For a complete bio including my educational background and approach to massage therapy, simply give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you.

As a Nationally Certified Therapist, I can work on anyone. I assess and then combine a variety of modalities to suit your body's needs for each session. I work

light first with Swedish, then deeper, and always finish light. This warms the tissues so I can get into the belly of the muscle, and then afterwards calms them. Pain is in the center of the muscle tissue and this spasm is what is holding the muscle tissue short. I work from origin to insertion with the strokes, in the direction the muscle is acting. I also work in general towards the heart. Massage Therapy increases blood flow, eliminates toxins from the lymph glands, affects the nervous system through direct touch thus enhancing overall relaxation and wellness. Of the 15 systems of the body, massage therapy affects 11. Like exercise, I move the body with range of motion, joint articulation, and active isolated stretches to get deeper, and increase vitality and decrease "stuck" joints. I never use high velocity force or work with pressure on the spine (reserved for Chiropractors). I always take feedback from my clients and can alter the pressure, lighting, music, temperature, or give another modality for treatment. Please discuss any concerns with me about your health in advance. The risk of fainting increases if you are diabetic or have high blood pressure and are not on medication. I wish to not work on these clients. I also do not massage women in their first trimester of pregnancy as this is the highest risk time. I am trained in professional pregnancy massage therapy however. I also am trained in geriatric, cancer, and mastectomy massage. I can help heal wounds after cosmetic surgery with Dr. Vodder's Manual Lymph Drainage for the face and neck. If you have a stiff neck, sore hips, and sore feet from long hours driving or working, I have many years of experience aiding in the relief of theat pain through Ortho-Bionomy, Bowen, Acupressure, Shiatsu, Reflexology  and Deep Tissue integrated sessions. I use a lot of heat first to really get the tissues warm, so I can get into the middle, and get relief. I love what I do, and chose it after driving past my massage school one day wearing a suit and the sign above the door said, "if you're going to work, work magic." I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR IN AND SIGNED UP FOR CLASSES. It isn't magic, it is energy moved around. Let me help you get unstuck. ~Kay
